Good Photographs

Good Photographs at Paul Paletti Gallery

Our new show is called “Good Photographs” after the Ansel Adams quote, “There are no rules for good photographs, there are only good photographs.” Ansel Adams is, of course, Paul’s photography lodestar, the artist who inspired the collection, now over 1600 pieces strong.

For this show Paul has chosen some of his favorites from that collection, good photographs all.

“I met Ansel Adams on the occasions of his visits to his friend and my teacher, Beaumont Newhall, at the University of New Mexico in 1972-3.  Adams was famous for his technical mastery of photographic processes, and for his images, which have become iconic in the history of photography.  But he was also a great teacher, mentor, and a champion of environmental issues.

Most of the photographs in this exhibit have grown out of Adams’ legacy.  They exhibit a clarity of vision and design, and they showcase the sheer beauty, tonalities, and sensuality of the best analog black and white darkroom prints.”

The exhibit includes works by William Clift, Kirk Gittings, Bill Schwab, Steve Sherman, Michael Kenna, Tom Potter, Joel Myerowitz, Mark Citret, and Todd Webb
